Hi, I’m Mary!
Are you looking for a
dyslexia therapist? reading consultant? dyslexia advocate? dyslexia podcaster?
You’re in the right place.

Learn To Read With Me
I have over 30 years of experience teaching children and adults to read
Reading is a fundamental skill that shapes a person’s future, yet over 770 million people worldwide struggle with illiteracy, limiting their opportunities for education, employment, and independence. In the U.S., 54% of adults between the ages of 16 and 74 read below a sixth-grade level, affecting their ability to navigate daily life and secure stable jobs. Early intervention and evidence-based reading instruction are crucial in breaking this cycle, empowering individuals with the skills they need to succeed.
Literacy for all is achievable; my passion and vocation is to move the world towards this goal.

I cannot say enough about Mrs. McCool Berry. She is one of the most dedicated, passionate, and knowledgeable educators I have enjoyed working with.
My daughter, now in fourth grade, has struggled in school in multiple areas since kindergarten. She has difficulty decoding sounds and blending them into words and often skips words or reverses letters. These challenges impacted her ability to achieve reading, spelling, and math at grade level.
While her teachers were doing the best they could for her, it was obvious that she needed a more personalized and supportive approach.
Within a few short months of working with Mrs. McCool Berry, my daughter’s academic performance and confidence had improved significantly. She is no longer surviving in the school environment but is finally thriving. Mrs. McCool Berry was a remarkable resource and advocate for my daughter when working with the school district to obtain an IEP.

Our journey with Mary began when she volunteered to help out some of the children at our son’s school. For one semester, Mary met with 4-5 kids almost daily.
She continued with this group for free over the summer, but because of timing issues, eventually, we broke off into private lessons. There are no words to describe the changes we have seen in our son, not only in his reading, which has dramatically improved, but in his overall person. He is confident and way less angry; he likes school, reads signs as we drive by, and even asks for several books for Christmas. And let me repeat - he likes school!!!
Working with Mary has changed our son’s life. We are forever grateful for her excellent instruction, which includes reports after each lesson and regular communication, but more importantly, for her dedication, commitment, and love that she pours into each child.

Thanks to her caring approach and tailored strategies, our daughter has gone from being shy and reluctant to answer questions to actively participating and eagerly embracing new learning challenges.
In addition to her work with our daughter, Mary has educated us as parents on advocating for our child's needs, giving us the tools and knowledge to support her at home.
We are beyond grateful for Mary's positive impact on our child's development and for helping us navigate her learning journey.

My daughter’s tutoring sessions have been a game-changer for her confidence and skills. The lessons Mary planned were perfectly tailored to her needs as a dyslexic learner—challenging in all the right ways while keeping her engaged and excited. She genuinely looks forward to each session, and we’ve seen incredible progress quickly!

I don't know where my daughter would be in her journey to becoming a proficient reader if we weren't fortunate enough to have Mary in our lives. I will be forever grateful for the gift she has given my daughter, both in her reading skills and confidence. She has done what no other educator could in the school setting and has made a connection with my daughter that will last a lifetime.

Mary McCool-Berry has been invaluable to our family. She has guided my sons through the 12-step Wilson Reading System with unmatched patience and grace.
Her expertise was also essential in navigating the IEP process, ensuring we could effectively advocate for the best support for our kids. Thanks to her unwavering dedication, my oldest son has completed all 12 steps in under four years and confidently manages 7th grade independently. We truly would be lost without her care and support.

Our son Nathan was not a fan of reading before Mrs. Mary. That all changed once he started taking lessons with her. He would remind us when he had a session and be excited about it. Mrs. Mary has also been an excellent resource for us as parents. She's a blessing to all of us.
